Gabriel Vieira

CTO, US @ Ubivis

Industrial AI and digital twins for manufacturing, built on physics-informed machine learning.

About me

I'm Gabriel Vieira: entrepreneur, AI systems developer and educator, with a background in physics and computer science. I build industrial machine-learning systems that respect physical laws as well as data patterns. I hold two separate physics degrees from the State University of Londrina (UEL), in Brazil: a bachelor's (B.Sc.) and a licentiate, the teaching degree. There I did research in computational cosmology and X-ray microtomography.

I moved into AI in 2023 as an AI Resident at the SENAI Hub of AI, joined Ubivis in 2024 as a junior data scientist and became a co-owner the same year. Since October 2025 I have been CTO of Ubivis US. Ubivis has around 30 developers; I am also a co-owner of the company in Brazil and lead its commercial work. I live in Londrina, Paraná, and spent a semester in Michigan working from the company's US headquarters. My focus is bringing industrial AI to North American manufacturing, with close ties to the German and Latin American technology ecosystems.

Teaching runs through all of it. It began in 2014 as volunteer tutoring in high school, continued at university, and continued with five years as a teacher at Paralelo Aulas Particulares, where I taught high-school subjects to students of all ages, then a computer vision module I designed and taught at PUCPR and the instructional design of EducaIA, Santander's AI course for teachers, which offered 15,000 free scholarships. I like translating between the technical and the executive, and I hold both to the same standard of clarity.

Principles

  1. Physics first, data second.

Plant data rarely covers the whole operating range. Models that respect the process keep working where the data runs out.

  2. No model ships without review.

Quality gates, safety checklists and an ethical-use policy are part of the product, not paperwork.

  3. If the operator cannot trust it, it does not exist.

A model is only useful when the people on the floor understand what it says. Explaining it clearly is part of the engineering.
